ROB YOUNGER AND FRIENDS MAKE BAD MUSIC
We'd only ever use the term "super group" in an ironic sense but Rob Younger (New Christs, Radio Birdman) is teaming with members of Jerry Spider Gang, The Backsliders, Dimi Dero Inc and Holy Curse to form a band called Bad Music and they're touring Europe in July. NEW TRADE UNION CLUB REVIVAL
After two huge Sydney Trade Union Club Revival shows in March (sold out two months in advance) there's another two on August 27 and 28 at the Surry Hills Excelsior. Headlining is the original 1982 line up of The Johnnys (Roddy Ray'da, Graham Hood and Billy Pommer Jnr), supported by Grooveyard (their "Avalanche of Love" single is a classic) and The Party Bores (members of The Eastern Dark, Trans 262, Psychotic Turnbuckles, Minuteman and Mushroom Planet.) It's presented by I Drank At The Trade Union Club Facebook group, Studcola and us. Tix from Redeye Records or Moshtix.
BUNT MAKING IT BIG IN ASIA
Sydney punk giant-killers Bunt - whose "Birdland" CD was 4ZZZ's album of the week - are making inroads into Asia. The title track of their next album, "My Maryanne" was recently featured at the Hong Kong Music Expo.The band is also heading back to Japan in October.
HITS JUST KEEP COMING: BRISBANE'S BEST GUTTER-PUNK BAND FRONTS UP
Gutter-punkers Hits quietly released one of the albums of this or any other year about six months ago.
