I-94 BAR "FAZIO HALL OF FAME"

Australian politician Amanda Fazio (above) made history on April 10, 2002 when she put the Ramones into the NSW Parliament's record of proceedings, the Hansard. Her speech was a well-crafted and loving tribute to the Ramones to mark the passing of Joey.

The Hon Amanda Fazio made it clear that although absent for most of the band's 2,263 shows, she was at every one of them in spirit at least.

Delivered to a hushed Upper House chamber at 10.27 at night, it mentioned luminaries like the Exploding White Mice, the Hard Ons and Ms Fazio's own dog Joey Ramone (our own pooch is named Dee Dee).

Obviously wasted on the unrepresentative swill of the NSW Legislative Council, it drew stinging criticism for time wasting (a Parliamentary oxymoron) in some equally unenlightened Sydney media talkback radio circles.

The I-94 Bar recognises the efforts of The Hon Amanda Fazio MLC (whom we did contact by e-mail, offering congratulations) and anyone else brave enough to put Real Rock Action on the map in whatever forum they can.

To this end, we've instituted our own Rock Action Fazio Hall of Fame - one that's so far removed from the MTV version that it's on another planet.

Entry into our hallowed portals carries with it the bestowing of an award: The Fazio. These handsome statuettes will be struck in black plastic (from melted down 180gm vinyl, of course) and will be in the black-clad image of "The Faze" herself. Gabba Gabba Hey!

Your nominations and contributions are welcome. We'll feature the best suggestions and pen tributes to the inductees who truly personify our brand of Rock Action. You can e-mail words of encouragement and support to The Hon Amanda here.

1. Dee Dee Ramone
Outrageous, out of it and out to lunch, Dee Dee was the
rock and roll heart of the Ramones.
