What a pack we're being dealt tonight!
The show starts at 8:30 PM.
Holy Curse is ready, seat belts on.
The four guys play their last show before meeting Oz people. The fact
of them playing before two Antipodeon bands is highly relevant.
After a more than short sound balance, they start off with the Sewergrooves'
"Saturday Night". The four-piece band is really working perfectly
now.
Many new songs appear, as well as new covers, some from Australian bands
(you'll discover these if you're in Oz and seeing them live), some other
from American places (Michigan: do-uh !), and finally one from the little-known
French band the Neurotic Swingers.
One of the highlights is the new song "Preacher Man" (which
has some kinda Sonics Rendezvous Band energy, you know).
The guys joke, but I confirm they're ready to rock Australia out. I don't
think Johnny Casino would disagree.
Then comes Grande Cobra.
I must admit not having been much impressed by the three piece. Their
(female) bass player was the most elegant person on stage that night,
with her fine red lady shoes. Their kind of garage stuff did not fit my
ears. Sorry, just a question of (bad) personal taste.
After that, Johnny Casino plugs in his guitar.
His guitar alone is LOUDER than both previous bands
were. The drummer plays at the side. BUT the sound equipment cannot handle
the two singers (Cosmic Commander and Grahame Deluxe) to allow them to
be distinctly heard. They also encountered mic cable problems. But what
a show, anyway !
Some bastards do not feel happy in the audiance, calling the Easy Action
a cover band (it is false, actually). I confess that the highlights of
the show were (in my humble opinion) two covers - the Easybeats' "Sorry"
and "Black To Comm", the latter being really wildly performed,
with people dancing on the stage. Wow! I'm still deaf after three days!
