Australia Day Weekend 08

Just after midday on a sunny Sydney Australia Day weekend the Rocks Rhythm Boat pulled in to Pyrmont with Rock Messrs Lovelock (vox), Steedman (guitar) Morris (guitar), Couvret (bass) and Larsen (drums) already on board with the gear.

A huge crowd charged the gang-plank and the bar got a good look in by some as the rest of the crowd filled upstairs and down.

Damien was on stage shaking his head and laughing, telling us all that Kent had already blown up two lots of amps/speakers earlier that morning.

As soon as they started, the joint was jumpin’………

Sprinkled among the Rifles inimitable originals such as “Let’d Do It Again” and their treatment of the “Marlborough Theme”, there were lotsa great rock covers like Akka Dakka’s Highway to Hell, The Sonic Rendezvous Band ‘s City Slang, Radio Birdman’s Cryin’ Sun, Patti Smith’s Dancing Barefoot, Free’s Wishing Well and one of my all time faves, theLipstick Killers – Hindu Gods of Love.

Damien yelled out “it’s taken 28 years to do this Harbour Cruise”………to do that particular one - I guess he’s right.  He had a big smile on his face – so did we.

Yeah…….more!!! Do we have to wait another year?

More clips from the cruise can be seen and heard on www.youtube.com/cazzam
