sonic garage floor

Sydney veterans Sonic Garage will unveil their second album, “Dark Country”, at an early Friday night show at The Old Manly Boatshed on 6 October.

Supports are hard rock supergroup Bahne Super Flex, featuring ex-members of the TrilobitesCelibate Rifles and Mushroom Planet, and new comers Capital Romantics.

The $20 admission includes a CD copy of the album and doors are at 5.30pm. The gig will be over by 9.30 and you’ll find the Facebook event here.

“Dark Country” is the follow up to 2021’s “Space Travel”, the debut record that made a big impression on community radio and I-94 Bar reviewers. Our own Edwin Garland wrote:

This was my rock record of the year. Phil Van Rooyen disbanded the Circus Chaplains after the death of his close mate Luke Lovelock. Born out of a difficult time, “Sonic Garage” is soulful with a rock edge lifted from  pure exponents like the Stooges. It’s inspired Sydney Northern Beach street level rock. The influences of Birdman and the Celibate Rifles are obvious but it’s delivered with freshness and urgency.  ‘Asteroid’ is, for my money, the song of year by any local band.”

"Dark Country" was recorded by Richard Ball at Sugar Plum Studios in Sydney and mastered by Don Bartley. Ben Brown did the artwork and the photogrpahy is by Luke Bourke. You can buy a copy on Bandcamp.
