A QUICKY FOR DUCKY - Conway Savage (Beheaded Communications)
Six tracks of world weary piano driven…what? Easy listening? Pop? It’s not rock- Mr. Savage is too clever for that, and may have actually invented his own genre with this. Assisted by Amanda Fox and Robert Tickner of Melbourne outfit the Stream, this is much more accessible than some of his other material, though still not an easy read.
Cryptic lyrics, muted keyboard heavy sounds, and medium paced tracks that have an overall air of melancholy, with a distinct whiff of sour whisky and stale cigar smoke speaking of events that occurred late last night.
An excellent offering from a man who is rightly hailed overseas and deserves more recognition in his home country. - TJ Honeysuckle
