DOUBLE WHITE LINES - R.O.A.D.S (Self Released)
Here’s five solid tracks from R.O.A.D.S. (Remnants of a Dead Star) who are, in fact, the remnants of Thumlock, a band that hailed from Wollongong, south of Sydney.

R.O.A.D.S. are a four-piece but three members (Ben, Raff and Wayne) were in Thumlock, who toured the Australian East Coast, supporting acts including Rollins Band, Hawkwind and Nebula.

R.O.A.D.S. have moved on since then but, hey, what's the big deal with a band progressing? Nothing, if it’s done right like these fuckers have. This is much more urgent and vital than Thumlock - essentially more rock 'n' roll.

These guys are experienced players and know how to write and arrange,. They don’t immediately sound like a '70s band photocopy, per se, but the influences still at work (like heavy rock, baby).

There are two types of good heavy rock: dumb heavy rock and smart heavy rock. These guys are in the smart category.

I saw 'em live recently and they can burn it up. I loved Thumlock - but I prefer this. It's like someone lit a fire under their arses. Maybe they stopped smoking pot or moved outa the 'Gong? Whatever. It’s working.

Stay Tuned. - Ashley Thomson
