SAPHIRE MAGARITA

"A favourite of mine and Angie's, named after the place we lived near Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia."
1. Fill a large glass 3/4 to the top with medium size ice cubes
2. Pour in 1 1/2 shots tequila
3. Pour in 1 1/2 shots Bickford's Lime cordial
4. Fill up remaining space with club soda
5. Stir
6. Drink
7. repeat steps 1-6

This drink was introduced at Deauville, 1921, after Dempsey's victory over Carpentier. Really...ask your Dad or Grandfather. From the much loved and studied (in my previous life, of course) 'Cocktails: How To Mix Them' by 'Robert' of the American Bar, Casino Municipal, Nice, and late of (as in the 1940s) of the Embassy Club, London."
Fill the shaker half full of broken ice and add:
2 dashes of Absinthe
1 teaspoon of Grenadine
1/6 gill of Gin
2/6 gill of Calvados
Shake well and strain into a cocktail-glass.
